A recent Audit in the Division of Medicine, at this hospital showed that 49.6% of all inpatients showed signs of cognitive impairment, predominantly dementia and delirium. There was a need to bring activity and cognitive stimulation into these acute environments.
Dementia and Delirium Care is a key priority for the organisation. Improving the quality of care for our patients must be achieved through taking advantage of innovative ways of engaging and personalising care and improving opportunities for social interaction.
Staff working at the hospital have long been feeling that the individual’s suffering from dementia or similar cognitive impairments needed more opportunities to engage with meaningful activities and entertainment.
