Introducing the Inaugural RITA Awards
We a really pleased to announce the launch of the Annual RITA awards. These awards have been initiated to showcase the amazing work that is taking place using RITA across the entire Health & Social Care spectrum. MIN has collated a wealth of case studies over the years demonstrating the value that your hard work and dedication to your patients is achieving; it is now time to offer you a public forum to showcase your outcomes and offer an opportunity to be rewarded for your efforts.
From 2021 we will be hosting annual User Group Meetings in the month of May. Dependent on the COVID situation we plan to host an event which you can attend in person, but we may have to host it remotely. We will keep an eye on things and confirm logistics nearer the time. A panel of third-party contributors will be assessing applications and selecting the winners. Winners will be presented with both an award and a prize which can be shared with your teams.
Award categories are:
Most innovative use of RITA
Best use of RITA at end of life
Best use of RITA for LD
Best use of RITA for Delirium
Best use of RITA in ED/ICU/ITU
Best use of RITA for Person Centred Care
Best use of RITA involving families
Best use of RITA during COVID
Best use of RITA for group activities
Best use of RITA for Continuity of Care
We have named our final award the ‘RITA Star’ award. This award is in recognition of an individual’s commitment to RITA. It takes in to account their overall input, support and dedication to raising awareness of the outcomes that RITA can achieve throughout their organisation if embraced in to daily routines.
Guidance for submitting your application
Your applications do not have to be written specifically for one of the categories listed above. You may submit a comprehensive application that contains content that covers multiple categories. Our judges will then review each application and assess them taking in to account all of the categories.
We recommend that you capture and include as many outcomes as you are able to. Outcomes can include:
Qualitative outcomes: eg
• Examples of person-centred care
• Patient experience – Quality of life and wellbeing
• Anecdotal stories/examples of RITA positively impacting on a patient/resident – The more heart-warming the better 😀
• Improvement in quality of 1-1’s
• COVID specific – what role has RITA played during the COVID crisis
Quantitative outcomes: eg
• % Reduction in Falls
• % Reduction in 1-1
• % Reduction in Delayed Transfers of Care
• % Reduction in LoS
• % Reduction in use of medication
• % Reduction in Hospital admissions
• % Reduction in aggressive incidents – patient to patient and patient to staff
• % Reduction of patients on the highest rates of care
Note:
The preference is for applications to document actual figures using your own quality/governance data. However, we will also accept applications stating that noticeable reductions had been observed.
If you are struggling for inspiration or ideas we suggest that you review some of the case studies that we have written with a number of RITA clients in recent years here: RITA Case study library
